The luxury car market in India is expanding fast and the market sees new brands fighting each other to establish their footprints in this lucrative segment. A year back when Mercedes introduced its B class model they found it easy to establish their place but this year there is stiff competition from new brands from other luxury car makers and the German giant felt that it is time to introduce a newer version of their B class model. This new model will come with a diesel engine and will be priced Rupees 22.6 Lakhs. The price is a little less than petrol variant of the same model.
It is disclosed that car will run on an engine which is 2-2Litre 4.Cylinder. The model uses diesel very efficiently and said to have 108ps Power. In Europe Bclass comes with many variants in engines which are Euro5 complaint. In India the car manufacturer has selected 2-2L because it can be fitted to other Benz models as well. There is a report that the vehicle starts smoothly and gains speed without any difficulty. The vehicle is fitted with 2 types of 7 Speed Clutch, it is easy to shift the car in the new mode without any difficulty. The car has a large Fuel Tank which takes in nearly fifty Litres of diesel and needs to be topped up only after one thousand Kms. There is no modification in the Safety System. However, the wheels are slightly larger so the Tires are little bigger. The Anti Lock Braking and Electronic Braking Distribution systems are not modified, as well as and the Electronic Stability Program is not changed either. The model keeps its rugged appearance as there is no visible modifications to both the interior and the exterior, though it is easier to drive due to bigger tires which can take a firm grip on the roads.
