Benelli - the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has postponed the official India launch of its retro-modern motorcycle, the Imperiale 400. As per a recent report, the Benelli Imperial 400 was expected to be launched around March 2020. But, the brand has now postponed it further to mid-2020 citing time limit for the preparation of the launch. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer has a lot of expectation from Imperiale 400 and it is working rigorously to make the launch a success, and the preparations demand more time. Benelli is also working on localization of its motorcycles and we expect that the Imperiale 400 can become the most localized steed of Benelli's stable.
Mechanically, the Imperiale 400 will be powered by a BS-VI compliant, single-cylinder, air-cooled 373.5 cc, SOHC motor. The motor is expected to churn out 20.4 bhp of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 28Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm. The Imperial 400 was spied recently at the ARAI facility in Pune and the spy shots revealed that the motorcycle will be identical to the one showcased at EICMA 2017.
The Benelli Imperiale 400 is equipped with telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks at the rear. Braking duties are being carried by 300 mm and 240 mm discs at the front and back respectively. Speaking of the design, the Imperiale 400 has received a lot of retro styling including chrome garnished mudguards, round headlamp unit consisting halogen bulb, chrome exhaust mufflers, tear-drop tank, split seats and dual instrument cluster.
The motorcycle also features a dual-channel ABS unit to further enhance the braking power. Now, to compete with the product that already rules the segment, the Italians have to focus on containing the pricing of the Imperiale 400. The aforementioned localization will certainly help Benelli in achieving the same. For the update, Benelli has begun its new partnership with Adishwar Auto Ride (Mahavir Group) and it is proving to have smoothened the brand's India operations.
