Benelli TRK 502 coming for your Adventure Rides by September 2016!

Snapshot: Get ready, Benelli TRK 502, a bike that seems to be tailor made for India is arriving by September 2016!!

Ever since DSK Benelli previewed the TRK502 at EICMA 2015, we had been experiencing some serious craving to ride this beauty of a machine that promises to be the exact sort of motorcycle that Indian market needs. With the bike being present in the prototype form, it was but expected that there was still some time before the bike arrived for sale in India and elsewhere but it did look closer to production version which made us believe Benelli when they said the bike will be out for some adventurous fun soon enough.

Now, the arrival time of the TRK502 has been revealed by our friends at BikeAdvice which are quoting that Shirish Kulkarni,  Chairman of DSK MotoWheels, has said in an interview with the website that the TRK502 should be coming to India by September 2016, however, DSK Motowheels would like to bring it sooner, but right now, September 2016 is the most likely time we will see the adventure tourer come to India.

Suiting Indian market perfectly the TRK502 will arrive with a 500c inline twin engine that is good enough to produce a fabulous 48bhp@8500rpm and 50Nm@4500rpm of peak torque, these figures should mean that the TRK502 will be more than capable of dealing with almost any sort of terrain the Indian conditions could throw at a bike.

Other features that make the TRK502 tailor made it adventure mindset are things like a brilliant ground clearance of 230 mm, a somewhat heavy but understandably present 210 kg of kerb weight, a tall windscreen, an LED headlamp, a fuel tank with 20-litre capacity, long-travel front USD suspension and an adjustable monoshock attached to a steel trellis frame, the braking is taken care by a dual disc brake upfront and a single disc brake at the rear, and all this with an optional pannier set.

During EICMA 2015 it was also discussed that the TRK502 might arrive in two variants, one of which will arrive with alloy wheel and smaller tire arrangement for more on-road usage while the other variant with panniers standard will come in a full fledge off road avatar alongwith wire spoke wheels, an idea we reckon will be a good choice for riders from day one.

Expect the TRK502 to arrive through CKD route and with a price tag that should undercut the 5 lakh mark easily. Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
