Indian adventure tourer bike lovers are in for a treat. DSK-Benelli is all set to pep up the Indian market with the launch of its TRK 502 in January 2017. The Italian two-wheeler manufacturer will make an entry for the very first time in India with this motorcycle.
It had been appreciated highly by the visitors at the 2015 EICMA in Milan as well as when it was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. India currently lacks a good range of adventure tourer bikes and this will give the company a strong foothold in the Indian market. India currently houses the Royal Enfield Himalayan around Rs 1.55lakhs, Kawasaki Verseys 650 around Rs 6.60lakhs and the Triumph Tiger range which starts around Rs 10lakh. The TRK 502 is expected to carry a price tag between 5.5 to 6.5lakhs (ex-showroom).
In terms of looks, the motorcycle is quite similar to the Ducati Multistrada 1200, which is quite a goodlooking bike. It has an edgy front look comprised of a beaky front. Large panels, big and bulky 17-inch alloy tyres, large fuel tank and exhaust canisters and panniers make up its side profile. The front has a large windscreen while the tail is quite minimalist. It comes with luggage carrier option as well.
It gains power from a 500cc parallel-twin motor that churns out 48PS of peak power at 8,500rpm and 45Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox controlled by hydraulic clutch.
A huge 20litre fuel tank sits inside the two-wheeler and should be good enough for long adventure rides. Dual 320mm front discs takes care of braking. USD front forks and a monoshock rear setup along with ABS are also present.
