Benelli TRK 502 – the adventure tourer bike from the Chinese owned Italian motorcycle manufacturer was spotted testing recently in India for the first time. The Benelli off-road bikes were first displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo in India and the launch was expected in 2017.
The TRK 502 will be available in two versions – a base standard variant and the 502 X – the one in the images. While both variants share similar design and style, however, the TRK 502 will come fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels whereas the 502 X will get a 19-inch and a 17-inch spoked wheel at the front and rear respectively. For both models, the suspension will be taken care of by a 50mm USD fork and a preload, rebound and compression-adjustable monoshock.
The Benelli bikes will also come fitted with a 320mm twin-disc at the front and a 260m single disc at the rear and dual-channel ABS system will be offered as standard.
These Benelli motorcycles will get the same 499.6cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns 47.6hp at 8,500rpm and 45Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm, with the help of a 6-speed transmission. The Benelli TRK 502 bikes will also feature a huge 20-litre fuel tank, for higher range on tours. The seat height is 840mm and the bikes weigh 213kg.
In India, after DSK Group, Benelli has ventured with Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), part of Hyderabad-based Mahavir Group, to relaunch the brand, handle the sales and expand dealer network. The company has also set up a new facility outside Hyderabad to assemble CKD units and may soon localize components to cut costs.
The Benelli TRK 502 motorcycles could start selling from March 2019 at a price range of Rs 5.5 to Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
