Uber-luxury carmaker Bentley Motors have rolled out the new Flying Spur V8 model in the country today at a staggering price of Rs 3.1 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi.) First seen at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the Flying Spur now joins the existing Flying Spur W12 in India and will be sold in the country through Exclusive Motors in New Delhi - who are the sole importers of Bentley cars.
The V8 unit in question displaces 3,993cc and comes mated to a twin-turbo induction system. The 4.0litre engine is able to put out 507PS of max power and 660Nm of peak torque and has been coupled to the ZF’s dual-clutch 8-Speed automatic transmission. 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in 5.2 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 295 kmph. Not that the Bentley owners would really care about the fuel milage, but the engine does come equipped with the cylinder deactivation technology, which can shut off up to four cylinders at light load to increase fuel efficiency.
Visual differences between the V8 and the W12 is that the former loses out on the chrome garnish on the lower grille and instead, gets a black finish. Also, the Bentley logo on the V8 features a red background. Inside the cabin, the V8 loses out on the lumbar support, electrical adjustments and the heater.
Commenting on the launch, Satya Bagla, managing director of Exclusive Motors said, “For those who love the V8 exhaust note, the world’s most exhilarating luxury sedan has finally arrived. We are pleased to introduce the new Flying Spur V8 derivative in India, which has Bentley’s renowned all-wheel drive with smooth 8-Speed quick shift transmission giving the driver speed with sophistication and an unforgettable experience, whether you are at the back or behind the wheel.”
