Suzuki introduced the Intruder series of motorcycles in 1985 for the first time. Intruder is among one of the oldest and successful cruisers of all time. The Intruder line started life in North America with the Intruder 700 and the Intruder 1400, which was actually a 1360cc machine. In 2005 the name was changed to Boulevard for some markets while for other markets like India and Europe, the name ‘Intruder’ was carried on. Intruder has being featured in one of the most famous Hollywood blockbusters like The Fast and the Furious, Zombie, Renegade, Resident Evil and many more and is the signature cruiser from Suzuki.
Suzuki explains the Intruder to be ‘the world’s most modern cruiser motorcycle. It delivers the classic look of a cruiser without sacrificing the power and torque that motorcyclists crave for. It's built for effortless cruising across town or across state lines’.
Intruder M1800R is based on a four stroke, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 54° V-twin 1783cc engine which is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission with longer gear ratios to ensure hassle free gear shifts in traffic conditions. The engine of Intruder delivers a huge 127bhp of power at 6200rpm while 160Nm of monstrous torque kicks in at just 3200rpm. Intruder’s performance figures are impressive itself while a single glance at it will leave you star-struck. Intruder can be said as a mix of both old and modern looks.
The suspension units on the motorcycle consist of inverted telescopic, coil spring, oil-damped shock absorbers at the front and Link type, coil spring, oil damped shock absorbers at the rear. The tachometer of the Intruder is mounted above the headlight assembly with maximum rpm going up till 9000.
The braking duties on the motorcycle come from a 320mm disc brake at the front while a 275mm disc brake at the rear. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is near 347 kgs which makes is one of the heaviest motorcycle in the Suzuki’s line-up, and with tank capacity of 19litres, the motorcycle can cover up distances up to 250 kilometers on maximum which is in fact not enough from cruising perspective. Intruder is equipped with super wide 240/40R18 M/C 79V tire at the rear and a 130/70R18 M/C 63V tire at the front.
