The BMW 1 series sedan has finally made a public debut at the Guangzhou Motor Show, 2016. More details of the sedan has been revealed along with images to go with it. It is the first front wheel driven car and has four door.
The China exclusive model looks like an amalgamation of F30 3 series and exhibits a face of the 1 series hatchback. The front profile indicates trapezoid shaped headlamps and the iconic double kidney designed grille. The luxury sedan is available in 10 different colour options including Estoril Blue and luminous gold.
The interior design carries resemblance of the other models which are built on front drive UKL platform. Moreover, like the other UKL models, this sedan too holds electronic parking brakes and foldable rear seat for extra luggage space. On the centre console dashboard, there is an 8.8-inch LED display, a full colour display, panoramic roof and automatic handsfree bootlid functions. The safety features include pedestrian warning, lane departure warning and collision warning.
Under the bonnet, the BMW 1 series sedan will feature two turbocharged petrol engines with three power outputs. The 118i variant will be run by a triple cylinder 1.5-litre engine, capable of delivering 136bhp power. On the other hand, the other variant, the 120i Luxury will get a larger 2.0-litre four cylinder engine with a peak power of 192bhp. However, the best engine is featured in the best in class 125i Sports, which holds similar engine, but can churn out a maximum power of 231bhp. All these models will be available in two transmission options, one the six-speed manual gearbox transmission and the other, an 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
The BMW 1 series will be manufactured in China, as it is built in collaboration with the Bavarian headquarter of the automobile maker, BMW, and the Chinese auto partner, Brilliance Auto.
