The picture that you are seeing here is of BMW 2-Series Active Tourer MPV, spotted during its official photo shoot. Showcased as the 'BMW Concept Active Tourer' at 2012 Paris Motor Show, this was earlier known as the 1-Series based MPV.
This will be BMW's first ever front-wheel drive vehicle. The five-seater version of the MPV will be launched by early 2014, while the 7-seater will be rolled out by the end of the next year. The company might also unveil this vehicle at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
The BMW 2-series Active Tourer MPV will be based on the UKL1 platform on which the new Mini range is also being built. Several versions of the new BMW 1-Series and 2-Series too are built upon the same platform.
The 2-Series Active Tourer MPV will have a three-cylinder 1.5-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol and diesel engines powering new MINI. The gasoline engines will have different output figures ranging from 122bhp to 224bhp, while the diesel mill will be made available in 82bhp to 184bhp power output range.
Inside the cabin, the car will have elevated seating with a plenty of space, rear seats with 40:20:40 split and a boot space around 400-litres. The car will also have a large panoramic roof as you can see in the spy picture.
To be launched first in the European markets, the car might also be launched in the markets of the US and Asia.
