BMW 520d M Sport launched at Rs 54 Lakh in India

Snapshot: The new BMW 520d M Sport is locally produced at BMW Plant Chennai in a diesel variant and is available at BMW dealerships across India.

Today, BMW India launched the new BMW 520d M Sport at a sticker price of Rs 54 lakh in the country. With its hallmark ‘M’, it definitely offers , versatility and dynamism with a boast of high performance. The BMW 520d M Sport is locally produced at the German car manufacturer’s Chennai facility in a diesel variant and is available at BMW dealerships across India.

Speaking about the exterior features of M Sport Package, it features M aerodynamics package, 18-inch M light alloy, ‘M’ badging on the front wings and M designation on the door sill strip. It retains adaptive LED Headlights, kidney grille along with powerful air inlet, side skirts with additional contour lines while at the rear, the exhaust pipe is finished in Dark Chrome with a diffusor in Dark Shadow metallic. Inside, it boasts of dynamic sporting ambience with electrically adjustable sports front seats, leather upholstery made of high grade material with contrast stitching. The M badged multifunction steering wheel along with extensive range of BMW ConnectedDrive that features multifunction instrument display, the next generation of BMW iDrive along with a 25.9 cm colour display, navigation system with 3D maps, BMW Apps, Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera and Connectivity through Bluetooth / USB devices.

During the launch, Mr. Frank Schloeder, President (Act.), BMW Group India said, “M stands for motorsport and is one of the most coveted badges that has shaped the history of performance automobiles.  The next chapter of the BMW 5 Series in India will begin with the BMW 520d M Sport which embodies the athletic form of luxurious elegance. The BMW 520d M Sport with typical BMW M style and sporty genes presents the future-proof dynamics of the BMW 5 Series at its energetic best.”

Mechanically, the new BMW 520d M Sport is power packed with 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 187bhp with 400Nm of peak torque. For that smooth drive, it come connected with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and also gets steering wheel paddle shifters. The 520d M Sport can bolt from 0 to 100kmph in 7.7 seconds before hitting the electronically limited top speed of 233kmph.

In term of safety, it comes loaded up with six air bags, Anti-Lock braking system (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Descent Control (HDC); Cornering Brake Control (CBC), crash sensor, Side-impact Protection and Electronic vehicle immobilizer.
