BMW India has launched the new 530i M Sport variant in India. Priced at Rs 59.20 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), the all-new BMW 530i M Sport is the new top-of-the-line variant in the 5-Series petrol line-up. One must note, the M Sport variant was earlier offered only with the 530d model. Other than 530i M Sport trim, the BMW 5 Series range offers three more variants including 530i Sport Line, 520d Luxury Line and 530d M Sport that are priced at Rs 53.80 lakh, Rs 58.70 lakh and Rs 66.20 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom). Talking of the styling, the new 530i M Sport gets a host of sporty elements such as reworked bumpers at front and rear and gloss black finish on the front grille and fog lamp housing.
The M aerodynamic package on the new variant includes side skirts on front and rear aprons. At the side, there are 18.0-inch M alloys and rear feature trapezoidal exhaust tips. In addition, the new variant also equips M Sport brakes with blue calipers and M badging on the front fenders. Changes to the interior are not just restricted to styling updates, as it gets a host of new tech. That said, the sports seats come wrapped with Dakota leather upholstery and Aluminium Rhombicle interior trim with pearl chrome highlights adds to the overall premium look.
As for features, it packs dual-zone climate control, dynamic damper control, ambient lighting and a 12.3-inch multi-functional instrument display. The feature list also comprises a wireless charging, remote control parking, park assist with surround view camera, 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, BMW Display key, navigation, gesture control compatibility and BMW apps.
Power on the new 530i M Sport comes from a 2.0-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged unit good for maximum power of 248 bhp at 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm torque at 1,450 to 4,800 rpm. The BS VI compliant engine is paired to an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels. It also gets five driving modes-Comfort, Eco Pro, Adaptive, Sport and Sport+. As for the safety kit, the new BMW 530i M Sport gets 8 airbags, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, cornering brake control, dynamic traction control, dynamic stability control, side impact protection, ISOFIX child seat mounts, attentiveness assistant and three-point seatbelts for front and rear passengers. In India, the BMW 5-Series sedan range goes against other popular models such as Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the segment.
