BMW India is readying its first-ever hybrid vehicle, the 7-Series ActiveHybrid for a commercial debut in the country that is slated to get underway on July 23. The model will be offered in the long wheelbase version only.
Powering the BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid is a 3.0-litre twin scroll turbocharged engine that has been mated to an 8-Speed automatic gearbox. The power output of the electric motor is rated at 55PS, while that of the petrol engine is 315PS. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in just 5.7 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmpl. The company claimed fuel efficiency is 12.75 kmpl.
The BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid will also feature a real time status update meter, which will show the level of battery remaining and other technical details related to hybrid vehicles. The company claims that the new ActiveHybrid will be able to cover 4km only on electric power.
The sedan will come equipped with all the features and creature comforts associated with the 7-Series. More details about the new BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid will be made available at the time of the vehicles’ scheduled launch later this month.
