BMW Motorrad has showcased the all new BMW G 310 GS earlier this week at the ongoing EICMA 2016 in Italy. The adventure touring bike is based on the BMW G 310R naked street fighter, and is expected to go well with BMW fans of India. The company has now revealed that the G 310 GS will be launched in India by the end of 2017. The G 310 GS is the most affordable motorcycle from BMW, and will be manufactured by BMW Motorrad in partnership with TVS Motor Company. BMW G 310R, another model from the company, is scheduled to launch in India in the first quarter of 2017.
The motorcycle is 2075 mm in length, 880mm in width and 1,230 mm in height. The stopping power of the G 310 GS comes from 300mm single front disc with 4-piston radial caliper, and 240mm rear disc brake. The affordable BMW gets a larger tank for long range, long travel suspension, rear luggage rack for carrying luggage, dual purpose off-road tyres for better grip in every road conditions, small windscreen that works efficiently in order to deflect wind blast etc.
The BMW G 310 GS is powered by a 313 cc single cylinder, 4-valve, liquid cooled all new engine, that is can churn out a maximum power of 34 bhp and peak torque of 28 Nm. The transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed transmission system that sends all the raw power to the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The motorcycle will compete against RE Himalayan, Kawasaki Versys 250 / X-300 and the Mahindra Mojo.
Right now the bavarian company is in the process of setting up dealerships and service centers in India. BMW Motorrad is likely to sell locally manufactured bikes and CBU’s together in its showroom, which will give the customers wide range of choices. The upcoming BMW G 310GS is expected to be priced between 2.4 - 2.5 lakhs in India.
