BMW India has unveiled the BMW i3s among the long list of cars showcased by the manufacturer at the Auto Expo 2018. The BMW i3s, a small Electric Vehicle, is already out in the European and American market for sale and is even used by the police forces of countries like Czech Republic, Ireland, Dubai and Germany.
Flaunting a black kidney grille in the front, LED headlamps and LED turn indicators, the EV carries a very attractive look. The 20-inch light alloy wheels along with a glass B-pillar makes up for the car’s side profile. Its suicide doors are inspired by that of BMW’s Rolls Royce cars. The back side of the car features a large diffuser shaped bumper and LED tail lights, which are enclosed in glass.
The interior of the BMW i3s features a sporty steering wheel along with a 5.7 inch TFT colour instrument cluster. The car also has a 10.25-inch high-definition infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and iDrive connected Drive. Recycled plastics and plant-based fibres are used to form the seats and trims inside the car. The safety of the driver and the passengers are ensured with features like dynamic traction control, dynamic stability control, reversing camera, Active cruise control and parking assistant.
The BMW i3s is the upgraded version of regular i3 and features a more powerful synchronous electric motor that is capable of producing 184 bhp power, which is 14 bhp more than the regular one. It claims to deliver a maximum speed of up to 280 km/hr.
The manufacturers have not yet given any hints as to when the BMW i3s would be launched in India. However, the price of the model sold in the UK is around Rs. 33.10 lakhs.
