On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, the ‘FAME India Eco Drive 2015' rally took place in Delhi. BMW India also took part in this rally by showcasing its electric hybrid sportscar i8 amidst the 46 other hybrid cars. BMW i8 was also displayed among the other 14 vehicles at the event. Jut so you know, BMW i8 was launched in India just a couple of months back at a sticker price of Rs. 2.29 Crores (Ex. Showroom).

BMW i8 comes with a plug-in hybrid engine, which comprises of a 1.5L, 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine and an electric motor. The engine generates a maximum power of 231 PS and peak torque of 320Nm, while the electric motor returns 131PS of top power and 250Nm of highest torque. Hence, eventually, the combined output of diesel engine and electric motor is 362PS and 570Nm. The i8 does a 01-00kmph in just 4.4 seconds, while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. For those asking, BMW i8 just won the prestigious 'World Green Car' award recently.
