The German automaker, BMW, has announced to introduce its praiseworthy plug-in hybrid supercar, i8, at the upcoming AutoExpo India. The German automaker has developed the i8 as a crucial part of its BMW Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics. Expected Price of BMW i8 In India
The BMW i8 is powered by a 3-cylinder 1.5-litre Twinpower petrol engine that produces the peak power of 231 BHP at 5800 RPM and 320 Nm of torque at 3700 RPM. Arguably, the power figures seem quite low for a supercar but synchronization of an electric motor of 132 BHP has resulted in a combined overall power output of 336 horses! Moroeover, most of the body parts of the i8 are made up of carbon fiber that are moulded in a extremely aerodynamic design makes the i8 enough potent to clock 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds.
BMW is contemplating to develop a separate sales network for its i-Series cars in the international markets. The company has already been selling its first i-badged car, i3, in Germany and several European markets since November last year, while the i8 is due for its launch in the last quarter of the ongoing year. Interestingly, BMW is also evaluating the possibilites to launch both the models here in India. The i8 is expected to reach the Indian showrooms by the end of this year with an hefty price tag of around Rs. 1.5 crores.
