The world is moving to the alternative fuel sources and electric vehicles are something which will replace most of the conventional engine technology of the world. BMW has pioneered the technology by launching the futuristic i3 and i8 electric vehicles.
The official Facebook page of BMW India has released a teaser of the BMW i8 today, showing how elegant and beautiful the BMW i8 is.
The i8 was first unveiled as a concept car at Frankfurt Motor Show. The production version comes with a lithium-ion battery pack with an electric range of 35km. The BMW i8 has an exemplary fuel efficiency and uses less than 2.5 liters of fuel for 100 km.
The BMW i8 looks brilliant piece of engineering and carries a 1.5 liter twin-turbo engine with a maximum output of 231 horse power and torque peaking at 320 Nm. The electric motor further pushes the car by adding 131 horse power. Working in harmony, the i8 has an output of 362 Horse Power with 570 Nm of torque.
BMW confirmed that the car will proudly stand at the BMW stall during the Auto Expo 2014 and will be priced close to 1.7 crore. BMW has allotted about 700 units for India, and the official launch will take place somewhere around late this year. The BMW i8 has already gained a huge fan following after it was featured in a movie.
