Indian car market’s appetite for luxury cars appears to be growing every day as more and more car manufacturers introduce their luxury car models to the market. BMW, the German car manufacturing giant, has now introduced the diesel version of its luxury car, ‘Mini Cooper Countryman’ this month. BMW has a car manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, near Chennai, which is already rolling out the petrol version of the car. The unit would roll out completely knocked down units, both in petrol and diesel variants. The cost of the car is likely to be a little over Rs.Twenty five lakhs.
All the cars manufactured by BMW have sleek design and ‘Mini Cooper Countryman’ is no exception to this rule. Both the front and back of the vehicle has clean cut ‘profile’. It has a 1.6L engine, which is capable of doing nearly one hundred nineteen bhp and can surge forward to two hundred seventy nm. The exterior of the car has ‘fog lamps’ along with ‘headlights’ and an intricately worked ‘grille’ made from ‘chrome’. Chrome is also used for ‘air dam’ and ‘bumper’ as well. The body is very strong and ‘compact’. The vehicle has manual gear box (6-speed), and the front wheels will take the power.
BMW is trying its best to establish its place in Indian car market. In this market it has to compete with Mercedes Benz which has come out with an excellent model. However, BMW has plans to launch a series of models this year, maybe in the month of September. This is a exciting time for the car enthusiasts in India, with new series from BMW coming on this year and Mercedes diesel models in ‘A-Class and B-Class’ and ‘Sport Tourer’ all competing. What is more the prices of all these models are affordable, the roads in India are going to see more luxury models from the car manufacturers whizzing by.
