BMW India has rolled out the first all-new 7 Series saloon from its Chennai production facility. The German luxury automaker had launched the all-new BMW 7 Series at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo. The first locally produced BMW 7 Series was rolled out a couple of days back by Dr. Jochen Stallkamp, Managing Director, BMW Plant Chennai. Currently, the company has started the local manufacturing of the diesel variants, while petrol variants are still on offer as CBU units.
BMW 7 Series was launched in two diesel variants: the BMW 730Ld Design Pure Excellence and the BMW 730Ld M Sport. However, the BMW 730Ld Design Pure Excellence was also available as CBU with several optional equipment and customizations from BMW Individual. The company also introduced two petrol variants: the BMW 750Li Design Pure Excellence and the BMW 750Li M Sport. Both the petrol variants are offered as CBU and can be individualized with optional equipment and customizations from BMW Individual. The latest iteration of company's flagship vehicle was priced in a range of Rs. 1.11-1.55 Crore (Ex. Showroom).
Talking about the features, the all-new 7 Series boasts of Gesture Control, Remote Control Parking, BMW Display Key, laser headlamps, BMW Touch Command System, Wireless Charging and Sky Lounge as standard. The diesel variants derive their power from the updated 3.0L, 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, which generates 265bhp of maximum power and 620Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the petrol variants come loaded with a 4.4L, 8-cylinder motor that belts out 450bhp of top power and 650Nm of highest torque. Both the engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic sport transmission, while having a top speed of 250kmph. BMW 7 Series rivals the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 L, and Jaguar XJ.
