BMW India has officially announced that it will launch the performance based M3 sedan and M4 coupe on November 26 in the country. Both these products, belonging to the high performance M division of the company, would be sold in the country via CBU route and come with a sticker price of around Rs. 1 Crore. This dynamic duo of M3 sedan and M4 coupe made its global debut at the start of 2014.
The BMW M4 coupe is underpinning the same platform as on the M3 and it would replace the ongoing M3 coupe or convertible. Both these beasts would come loaded with an all-new 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine which would be responsible for churning out a massive power of 431 bhp at 5,500-7,300 rpm and peak torque of 550Nm on tap between 1850rpm and 5500rpm. It would be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power being transferred to the rear wheels. The company has claimed that the M duo is capable of touching the 100kmph mark from standstill in a time of under 5 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
BMW has executed magnesium, carbon-fiber parts and high-tensile materials in new M3 sedan exceptionally well, and it has subsequently resulted in its lightweight structure. The upcoming M3 sedan is around 80 kgs. lighter than the current model. This reduction is weight has enhanced the performance as well as efficiency of the sedan quite well. The new M3 and M4 are said to be generating 40 percent more torque, but, on the contrary, fuel consumption and C02 emissions have also reduced by a significant margin, accordingly as compared to the current generation M3 and M4. The M4 Coupe would flaunt 18-inch alloy wheels as standard while optional 19-inch wheels are also on offer. In addition, it would have carbon fiber roof and a 60:40 split rear seat. Upon their arrival, the M duo would rival the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and Audi RS 5 in the country.
