Tech giant Google Inc conducted a Trends report between January and August 25th to find out what the Indian consumers were searching for on the world’s most popular search engine when it comes to luxury cars. Turns out that consumers from smaller town such as Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Surat and Pune are driving the online search for luxury cars in India with BMW and Mercedes Benz emerging as the favourites at the top of the list. Tata Motors owned Jaguar and German automaker Audi were listed in the third and fourth spots respectively.
“With growing section of rich Indians especially from the young generation being targeted by luxury car companies, Internet is playing a small yet considerate role in decision-making process.” Google said in a statement.
According to the Google Trends report, BMW who were leading the search charts at the start of year, was found losing its momentum as it witnessed the lowest search interest for brand BMW in the month of May. Mercedes Benz on the other hand, continued to attract a large amount of searches during the year and finally peaked ahead of its competition keeping a significant edge in search interest over the past couple of months.
Tata Motors-owned Jaguar brand attracted a significant response online with most searches resulting from Coimbatore, Chinchwad, Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Noida. Audi however, struggled quite a bit to attract search interest from smaller cities, with most searched emerging from metro cities including, Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Chandigarh.
“With big brands looking to target emerging youth with launch of new models, their online presence and popularity is well going to be a key contributor to their larger success story.” Google said.
