Indian motorcycle market is revving high and so every other motorcycle manufacturer is trying play right in order to stay tight in it. The German motorcycle maker, BMW-Motorrad in partnership with TVS came up with their first made in India product, the G310 R which was fully developed in Germany but will be manufactured in India to keep the cost under limit. Recently, BMW-Motorrad also made it official that they will be developing an adventure variant of the same that will share the same platform as the G310 R.
Being built on the same platform it will share the same engine and frame. Though we expect BMW will tweak the frame a bit to increase strength required by the adventure bike. Its 313cc single-cylinder engine produces 33.6bhp of maximum power at 9500rpm and 28Nm of peak torque at 10,500rpm. As seen on the G310 R, the engine comes mated to a synchromesh 6-speed transmission, BMW might change gear ratio for the adventure variant as it requires different power spread when compared to a street bike.
Indian motorcycle market is welcoming the new unexplored motorcycle segment with open heart, the recently launched adventure tourer from Royal Enfield, the Himalayan, received a humble response from crowd. As per reports, also the Austrian motorcycle maker, KTM, is looking forward to introduce an adventure tourer based on its 390 Duke platform. So hopefully after sometime our market will be flourished with good adventure tourers in sub 400cc category.
