The German car maker, BMW, has recorded the lowest sales in December 2013 as against the top three premium-car manufacturers - Audi and Mercedes-Benz. BMW sales has dropped by 22% from a year ago.
The company sold 7,327 vehicles last month in 2013, while Audi and Mercedes-Benz registered 11% and 32% growth in sales in December 2013, respectively.
However, the British owned luxury car brand Jaguar and Land Rover has sold 2,913 sedans and SUVs last year, a total growth of 22% in India.
The BMW sales declined also due to the launch of BMW 1 Series in September which is priced at Rs. 20.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
"We want to be the leading luxury car company with delighted customers, strong partners and most important, sustainable leadership," said Philipp Von Sahr, president of BMW Group India.
It is also said that the the other car makers such as Audi, due to its strong SUV line-up has boosted its sales while the Mercedes-Benz has slashed the prices of its key models which were imported in India earlier are now locally produced at its Pune plant.
