BMW reveals 2 Series Coupe

Snapshot: BMW, the German luxury carmaker has finally revealed the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupe, which will replace the 1 Series Coupe. It will go on sale in the US by the early next year, and will be launched in two models - 228i and the M235i. Set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, the M Performance model includes an impressive list of performance enhancing features. For US, the 228i model is priced at $33,025 and $44,025 for the M235i, including $925 destination and handling.

It will go on sale in the US by the early next year, and will be launched in two models - 228i and the M235i. Set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, the M Performance model includes an impressive list of performance enhancing features. For US, the 228i model is priced at $33,025 and $44,025 for the M235i, including $925 destination and handling.
 
To offer more prominent stance, the new Coupe gets 72mm larger, 32mm wider than its sibling (1 Series Coupe), and comes with an extended wheelbase of 2,690mm. The vehicle also gets spacious, as it now has 19mm of extra front headroom and 21mm of additional legroom.  
 
Under the hood, the BMW 228i gets the 240bhp, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine, while the range-topping M235i model is powered by a 3-litre inline 6-cylinder TwinPower engine that develops 322bhp. The performance oriented 2 Series Coupe comes equipped with features like  M Adaptive suspension, M Sport Braking system, variable sport steering and Michelin Pilot Super Sports tyres.  
 
Outside US market, the 2 Series Coupe will be offered in four variants - 220i, 218d, 220d and 225d along with the range topping M235i. The four models will get the same 2L, 4-cylinder diesel engines.  
 
The new BMW 2 Series also features the famous BMW EfficientDynamics technology, which includes air curtains and the Auto Start/Stop function in collaboration with both manual and automatic transmission. ECO PRO mode is activated via the standard driving experience control switch and includes a coasting function in conjunction with the 8-speed automatic transmission.
