Snapshot: The German automobile giant BMW launched its BMW 1 series car. It is considered as the most affordable BMW car in the Indian markets, and is available in four variants namely 116i petrol, 118cd, 118d, Sportline, and 118d Sportline plus.

The German automobile giant BMW launched its BMW 1 series car. It is considered as the most affordable BMW car in the Indian markets, and is available in four variants namely 116i petrol, 118cd, 118d, Sportline, and 118d Sportline plus. The car is priced, starting from INR 20.9 lakhs. This entry level luxury car quoted as Dynamic 1 was revealed by Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and race driver Armaan Ebrahim. The 1 series is available in both the 5 door and 3 door options at the global level, but Indian markets will avail only 5 door options.

The 1 series car is available in both diesel and petrol options. The diesel variant is powered by a 2 liter turbo charged twin power engine that generates a maximum power of 143 BHP and maximum Torque of 320 NM. The car is ARAI certified for its fuel efficiency, and mileage provided by the diesel powered car is about 20.58 km per liter off highways. The diesel variant will be available in 3 forms, each priced at 22.9 lakhs, 25.9 lakhs and 20.9 lakh rupees respectively.The petrol version of the 1 series uses a 1.6 liter engine that generates a maximum power of 136 BHP and maximum Torque of 220 NM. The mileage provided by this engine is 13.4 km per liter while driving through the city and 16.3km per liter on highways.

The car has a flamboyant exterior design and style. The headlight of the vehicle has a dual toned look that makes the front dazzle at every look. The front fascia is included with kidney shaped radiator grille that includes vertical slats and chrome surrounding. Further the front façade is labeled with the BMW logo that benchmarks the vehicle to a whole new level. The rear profile is simple, yet stylish. The parts of the 1 series will be imported through CKD route to Chennai where they will be assembled to form the car.
