After the confirmation of the larger-than-life Sports Utility Vehicle 'X7' last month, now the Bavarian based manufacturer is set to bring the biggest and baddest of the 'series' legacy- the all-new 9 Series. If rumours are to be believed, the top-ranging Bimmer will make its debut at the forthcoming Beijing Motor Show and will specifically cater to the affluent Chinese customers.
Carrying forward the tradition of an odd number for the name, the 9-series will reportedly ride on a lightweight modular platform that will underpin most of BMW’s upcoming models, including the next generation 7-series and those of Rolls-Royce.The 9-series concept will be making the best out of the modular platform, the one that will be used for the replacement for the Rolls-Royce Phantom in 2016.
If the 9-series concept turns out to be fruitful, we may witness it developed alongside the upcoming RR Phantom replacement. Thus, the Rolls-Royce could be targeted at traditional luxury buyers, while the 9-series will attract the customers seeking something with sportier and modern stance.
