BMW is eyeing to expand its SUV lineup and the next model from the Bavarian auto giant is going to be the X8 and it will make the global debut in 2020. Upon launch, this luxury SUV will sit above the soon to be launched X7 SUV. Also, this SUV will carry a fresh styling language and top-notch quality features and technologies.
Interestingly, the BMW X8 will come as a coupe-styled SUV and it will lock horns with rivals like Range Rover coupe and Audi Q8. In fact, this could come as the coupe version of the X7. It is likely to be based on a hybrid modular architecture that blends the CLAR modular platform and the Rolls Royce Cullinan’s new aluminum structure. This will reduce the weight of the car as well as provide the desired rigidity as well.
Considering the fact that BMW is keen about the development of driverless driving technology, the upcoming X8 luxury SUV is expected to get the latest autonomous driving tech. Also, it will surely come equipped with wide range of safety features. In terms of comfort, the car will definitely come with top-notch facilities.
On the powertrain front, the BMW X8 is expected to get the same engine lineup as the BMW X7. It could get a 6.6-litre V12 engine sourced from the BMW 7-Series. It is not sure, if the brand will bring this luxury SUV to Indian market, but the primary focus will be on China, Middle-East and Russia where demands for such extreme luxurious SUVs are pretty high.
