After the successful unveiling of the fourth generation City, Honda Cars India has been receiving an overwhelming response from the prospective buyers. Scheduled to be launched on January 7, 2014, Honda dealers across the country has started taking pre-bookings for the car for Rs 51,000, with deliveries commencing right after the launch. The booking amount is completely refundable if a buyer changes his/her mind at the last moment.
Honda Cars India is already overflowing with the pre-booking orders of the New City, courtesy Honda's brand value and market credibility. Interestingly, the company is done with the stock of the existing generation of the sedan. Dealers are receiving equally positive response for both petrol and diesel versions of the new City.
Due to constantly increasing demand for the sedan, the waiting period is expected to go up to two months, depending on the variant, colour and region. As per the trend, the entry-level variants remain high-in-demand in the country, and the new Honda City won’t be an exception here. The all new Honda City diesel will be a game-changer for the company, which is expected to break the sales records of the its existing version. For the very first time, the Honda City will be equipped with a 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel engine, which also does duty to the Amaze.
Capable of churning out a maximum power output of 98.6bhp, the City diesel mill has been claimed to return a whooping 26kmpl of mileage, which makes it the country's most fuel efficient car. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine on the other hand will return 17.8kmpl with five-speed manual and 17.9kmpl with five-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
