Brembo, the superpower of the Braking Technology Industry has had an incredible year at championships in 2014. Established in Bergamo, Italy in 1961, it did not take long for Brembo, after the company was formed, to specialise in disc brakes, which were imported from the UK at the time. The company entered into a supply contract with Alfa Romeo in 1964. It became the supplier of brake components to Moto Guzzi in 1966. In the 1980s, Brembo began supplying BMW, Chrysler, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Porsche with brakes. The company went public on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1995.

In the year 2014, Brembo has had a memorable run, here are a few of them : A Brembo-equipped motorcycle won all 18 races of the 2014 MotoGP season, a Brembo-equipped motorcycle led all 476 laps of the 2014 MotoGP season, and a bike with Brembo brakes clocked the fastest lap in 17 of 18 races. In other racing series, Brembo won the World Superbike championship with Sylvain Guintoli and Aprilia, while Josh Hayes brought Brembo a domestic championship in American Superbike aboard his Yamaha YZF-R1. Combined with Marc Marquez winning the MotoGP title again, Brembo has won 24 of the past 27 MotoGP championships, 22 of the last 26 World Superbike championships, and 22 straight in American Superbike.

With the 40th anniversary of Brembo’s first world championship – Niki Lauda’s first F1 crown with Ferrari in 1975 – planned for next year, Brembo was hoping for a huge result in 2014 and their teams did not disappoint. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg of Mercedes dominated in F1, finishing 1-2 in the 2014 F1 Championship with Brembo teams winning all 19 races this year. This makes it 20 World Championship Drivers’ and 24 World Championship Constructors’ titles in the past 40 years. In addition, Brembo continued for the third-straight year as the exclusive supplier of brake systems for the IndyCar Series with Australia’s Will Power winning his first IndyCar crown in the #12 Team Penske Chevrolet
