- BS6 Bajaj 220F gets a fuel-injection system.
Bajaj Auto has been updating its entire range of motorcycles with BS6-compliant engines in a phased-wise manner. Now, it has launched the BS 6 version of Pulsar 220F at a sticker price of Rs 1.16 Lakhs (ex. Showroom). It is nearly Rs 8,000 more expensive than the BS 4 model which was retailed at an introductory price of Rs 1.08 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). BS 6 Bajaj Pulsar 220F on-road price will be closer to Rs 1.40 Lakhs.
The company has made no cosmetic updates to the BS 6 model and it appears similar to the BS 4 model. The only modifications are carried out with the fueling method and exhaust system. As with almost every BS 6 model, the carburetor has gone for a toss in favor of a fuel-injection system while the efficiency of exhaust system has also increased. The specifications are not official yet but we expect the power and torque figures to either see a marginal hike or witness a slight drop. Even the rpm levels could differ with the BS 4 model.
The BS 4 Bajaj Pulsar 220F comes with top power of 20.9bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 18.5Nm at 7000rpm. Despite being a veteran in the segment, it still remains to be fairly popular with the auto enthusiasts in the country. The updation to BS 6 emission norms confirms the fact that Bajaj has no plans to discontinue it in the Indian market anytime soon. The company dealers across the nation have started taking pre-orders for the BS 6 Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the deliveries are expected to begin soon.
