The BS6 version of the Tata Harrier is almost ready to launch, and bookings have been opened by the manufacturer. The 2020 Tata Harrier brings with it a number of updates along with compliance to the new emission norms.
The styling of the Harrier remains essentially the same, although it gets new 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. A fetching new red-and-black colour scheme has been added to the lineup as well. The big changes are under the skin, beginning with the engine. Despite the upgrade to the new emission norms, Tata has added around 40bhp to the output for a total of 180bhp, on par with the competition. Torque has remained the same at 350Nm. The engine output will make sure that the new 6-speed automatic transmission will not have a performance deficit worth mentioning. The automatic gearbox is available on the XMA, XZA and XZA+ variants, the top three variants. There is no all-wheel drive option, but ESP is now standard across the Harrier’s range. Among other features added are a panoramic sunroof, six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with adjustable lumbar support, and automatically dimming mirrors.
The Harrier’s price is expected to go up by a lakh or so for the equivalent top-spec variant, and it is expected to be formally launched at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. Competition for the Harrier includes the Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, and the MG Hector.
