Renault India has launched the BS6 compliant Kwid at an introductory price of Rs 2.92 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. Being available in a total of 12 variants as the ongoing model in BS 4 range, the BS6 Renault Kwid witnessed an increase of Rs 9000 in price, depending on the variant. There are absolutely no cosmetic updates with the BS6 variants and they are identical to the BS4 counterparts.
The French automaker has not made any changes to the comfort and safety features of the hatchback in the BS6 mode. It continues to carry the driver side airbag, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder system and a speed alert system as standard fitments. The range-topping variant retains the same 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear-seat armrest, a rear parking camera, etc. to name a few.
Mechanically, Renault Kwid continues with the same 0.8L and 1L petrol engines, albeit in BS 6 emission levels but with the same power output and torque performance. The lighter 0.8L 3-cylinder engine makes 54bhp and 72Nm as earlier while the heavier and more powerful 1L 3-cylinder unit belts out 68bhp and 91Nm. The former will be offered only with a 5-speed manual transmission while the latter will have an option 5-speed AMT gearbox too besides the conventional manual unit. Renault Kwid takes on the likes of Datsun Redi-GO and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in the Indian market.
