BS6 emission norms come into effect from April 01, 2020. No auto manufacturer can sell any vehicle without the BS6 certification after the commencement of the emission norms. Toyota Innova, one of the most popular SUVs in India, has announced that the opening of the bookings for the new BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta models. The launch date will be sometime later in the year.
Accordingly, Toyota dealerships throughout India have started accepting the bookings for the same. Toyota has not released the pricing of the Toyota Innova Crysta BS6, as well.
The new Toyota Innova Crysta BS6 will come with a fresh set of petrol and diesel engine options that will be compliant with the latest emission norms. The power and torque specifications will also change because of the BS6 compliance.
In the meanwhile, Toyota Innova Crysta BS4 models will also be available for sale up to the deadline period until the stocks last. It is not confirmed whether Toyota has stopped the production of BS4 models.
The existing BS4 model comes with both diesel and petrol engine options.
The 2.7L 4-cylinder petrol engine can generate a peak power of 164bnp and torque of 245Nm. The 2.4L diesel variant delivers 148bhp of power and 343Nm torque.
Apart from these engines, the BS4 model comes with a more potent 2.8L 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of generating 172Bnp power and 360Nm torque. This vehicle comes with both auto and manual transmission options.
The appearance of the BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta will be similar to the existing BS4 SUV. However, it could come with better features. The pricing of the SUV will also be higher because of the stringent BS6 specifications. Toyota will announce the price next year before its official launch.
