Yamaha India has launched the all-new BS 6 certified Fascino 125 Fi at a starting price of Rs 66,430 (Ex. Showroom) in the country. It is offered in a total of four variants: STD Drum Brake, STD Disc Brake, DLX Drum Brake, and DLX Disc Brake. It can also be viewed as the high-performance variant of the Fascino 110 which will cease to go on sale from April 1, 2020, when BS 6 emission norms will come into effect nationwide.
As for the styling, Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi comes with a few subtle styling updates. The front end is carried over from the 110cc model but the rear end is all-new as it features a new tail-lamp cluster which has grown up substantially in size than the 110 models. The rear tyre is also much broader with 110mm width than the lower capacity Fascino.
The scooter also boasts of the stop-start system and a ‘quiet engine start’ system which is identical to Honda's silent start system. The BS 6 Honda Activa debuted the silent start system a couple of months back.
Mechanically, Yamaha Fascino is powered by the 125cc fuel-injected petrol engine which is much powerful than the 110cc model. It develops the top power of 8.2bhp and peak torque of 9.7Nm as compared to BS 4 113cc Fascino's 7.2bhp and 8.1Nm. The Japanese bikemaker claims that the 125cc engine comes with 16 percent higher fuel efficiency than the 113cc engine. It boasts of a company claimed mileage of 58kmph.
Yamaha Fascino will directly take on the Honda Activa and it has already scored an upper-hand by undercutting it in pricing as the latter ranges between Rs 67,490-74,490 (ex. Showroom).
