Yamaha has launched the BS Vl compliant FZ V3 and FZ-S V3. The FZ is priced at Rs 99,200 ex-showroom, and the FZ-S at Rs 1,01,200, ex-showroom. That is an increase of approximately Rs 2500 over the outgoing versions.
The FZ-S has also got two additional color schemes, metallic red and dark night. The FZ-S Dark Night costs Rs 1500 more than the other regular FZ-S paint schemes.
The engine displacement hasn’t been changed, but the upgrade to BS Vl emission norms has had an effect on the power and torque figures. Power is now reduced by 0.8 bhp, at 12.4 bhp, but the torque figure has been increased to 13.6 Nm, an increase of 0.8 Nm. Interestingly that new power figure is quoted at 750 rpm lower than before, while the torque figure is at 500 rpm less than before.
Other than this, the FZ and FZ-S remain identical to the outgoing model, with a single-channel ABS system, disc brakes at the front and rear, and identical instrumentation. More BS Vl models from the manufacturer will be launched shortly.
The Yamaha FZ V3 and FZ-S V3 compete with the Honda CB Hornet 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, and Bajaj Pulsar 160NS.
