Yamaha India has launched the BS 6 certified R15 V3.0 at a price point of Rs 1.45 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Last month, the Japanese bikemaker had launched the BS 6 compliant iterations of FZ and FZ-S in the Indian market.
Yamaha R15 V3.0 with the BS 6 engine is nearly Rs 4400 expensive than the BS 4 model. The company will introduce its entire range with updated engines before April 2020.
The BS 6 Yamaha R15 V3.0 will be available in three color options: Racing Blue at Rs 1.46 Lakhs, Thunder Grey at Rs 1.45 Lakhs and Darknight at Rs 1.47 Lakhs. The Racing Blue variant will ride on blue colored wheels, identical to the model sold in Indonesian and other Asian markets. It also suggests that the BS 6 version of the MT-15 will also come with similar color patterns for the wheels.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India said that the company has just increased the price by 3 percent while offering a new BS 6 engine and features.
Mechanically, Yamaha R15 V3.0 will be powered by the BS 6 version of the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. However, it is a bit low in terms of power and torque as compared to the BS 4 models. The engine develops 18.6bhp at 10000rpm and 14.1Nm at 8500rpm as compared to the BS 4 model's 19.3bhp at 10000rpm and 14.7Nm. Yamaha R15 V3.0 will take on the likes of KTM RC 200 in the Indian market.
