A couple of weeks ago, Bugatti released a teaser of their Vision Gran Turismo concept destined for the PS3-exclusive Gran Turismo 6 video game and now the vehicle has made its online debut and will be presented in the metal at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show programmed for later this month. It represents a sneak preview of the company’s new design language which as you can see still has some influences from the recently retired Veyron hypercar of which 450 units were made in a ten-year interval.
The Vision Gran Turismo concept seen here was created to celebrate the brand’s prolific racing history, with an emphasis on the 1920s and 1930s as well as on Bugatti’s Le Mans 24-hour endurance race victories. It’s being billed as a “real show car” and is the result of “precise aerodynamic analyses” and “cutting-edge racing technology” which will obviously be trickled down to the next production car which is said to receive the “Chiron” nameplate after a concept released back in 1999.
The new concept from Bugatti takes the shape of a hardcore racecar with a very aggressive and aerodynamic design along with “eight-eyed” LED headlights flanking a “horse shoe” front grille. It also boasts a center fin on the front and rear wings and there’s another fin on the length of the roof.
We don’t know whether the engineers have fitted the Vision Gran Turismo concept with a powertrain, but we can tell you the company’s next production car will carry over the massive quad turbo W16 8.0-liter engine, but it will employ e-turbo technology which should boost total output to a jaw-dropping 1,500 bhp.
Maybe Bugatti will shed some light concerning the concept’s technical specifications at IAA in less than two weeks in Frankfurt. Shortly after its real life debut, the vehicle will be offered for free on Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 6 video game available exclusively on the Sony PlayStation 3.
