Ford India has announced that its sub-compact SUV EcoSport would now be available at Canteen Stores Department (CSD) and Central Police Canteen (CPC) throughout the country. Currently, the company's several other vehicles such as Figo hatchback, Classic entry-level sedan and Endeavour SUV can be purchased via CSD and CPC by the serving personnel and ex-servicemen.
Additionally, Ford has also decided to offer extra benefits apart from the standard ones offered under CSD and CPC. The company claims that its prime concern would be priority delivery to serving and ex-service personnel, subject to variant availability. Being launched in 2013, the EcoSport sub-compact SUV was an instant hit among the people of the nation and at one point due to immense demand, the waiting period had gone up to 10 months for certain variants in some cities. Since its launch, it's been the 'blue-eyed boy' of the company line-up as it has been the highest selling vehicle and over 1 Lakh units have been sold in the country (both exports and domestic sales included).
Recently, Ford India started a third shift for production of this sub-compact SUV at its Chennai plant to cope up with the demands of the buyers. The waiting period of the sub-compact has come down significantly now due to the commencement of this third shift. Ford EcoSport comes in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with a total of three engine options - 1.5L, 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol motor, 1.0L 3-cylinder EcoBoost petrol and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TDCi diesel engine.
