Carlos Ghosn, Former Nissan CEO was the main force behind the construction of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. In November, the Ghosn was arrested in Japan as he was charged for under-reporting his salary and using company assets for personal use. According to the Japanese TV Station NHK, Carlos Ghosn has now been re-arrested and officially charged for under-reporting his salary.
Post allegations, Ghosn was stripped of his roles as Chariman of Nissan and Mitsubishi. However, he maintains his position as Chairman and CEO of Renault. Media report further claims that Nissan has also been charged by prosecutors as a corporation involved in the case. Besides Carlos Ghosn, Former Nissan representative Grey Kelly has also been arrested and indicted.
NHK reports that prosecutors believe that Ghosn had made certain arrangements to high salary post retirement. He made changes to receive the difference between his documented salary and what he was actually paid. Carlos Ghosn is yet to make an official statement on his arrest. However, he is reported to have denied all the allegations to prosecutors.
Japanese brand, Nissan has also shared details and specific allegations made against Carlos Ghosn with Renault. Lawyers from Nissan have briefed Renault officials on the allegations of Ghosn's arrest.
