It seems that Chevrolet has started testing the production model of the Beat Activ concept, which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year in February. The hatch has been spotted for the first time on the roads taking some test rounds. In the image, you can see, the car wears camouflage wraparounds at the front and rear, covering the hood, bumpers and the tailgate.
The front of the Beat Activ was not seen in the pictures, however the rear shows a new bumper with an integrated number plate as seen on the concept. The test was also missing body cladding and the rear door still continues to have pillar mounted door handles. The headlamps of the hatchback are elongated edging at the wide two-parted grille with wheel arches, mildly accentuated. Inside, it will most like get a touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, while navigation and smartphone pairing could be expected as a part of the package.
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Beat Activ is expected to be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel engine options seen on the existing model. The current version of the petrol unit delivers 79bhp at 6200rpm and 108Nm of torque at 4400rpm, while the diesel motor is good for 57bhp at 4000rpm and 150Nm of torque at 1750rpm. Both the powertrain comes connected to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Chevrolet also announced to launch 10 new models in the next five years that will include an all-new Beat-based compact sedan (Essentia – Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo), includes the new Beat and the new Cruze, which were revealed in June last year.
