Chevrolet Beat Essentia compact sedan has made its world premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The Essentia sub 4-meter sedan would be launched in India in 2017. Chevrolet Beat Essentia would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims in the compact sedan segment, challenging the likes of Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo.
The Beat Essentia has been in works since 2013 and the sedan's exterior styling gives a sneak-peak into next-generation Beat hatchback. Underpinning Beat's M300 platform, several interior elements would also be shared between the sedan and the new-gen Beat hatch. Just so you know, The American automaker also unveiled the Beat Active pseudo-crossover at the 2016 Auto Expo, alongside the Beat Essentia and Spin MPV. The Essentia compact sedan is expected to be locally produced at the company's production facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.
Mechanically, Beat Essentia would sport the same petrol and diesel mills as the current Beat hatch. The diesel variants would derive their power from a 1.0L, 3-cylinder engine. On the other hand, the petrol variants would be powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder motor, which is a downsized version of the company's 1.4L engine. Both the engines would be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an automatic variant could be introduced later. The Beat Essentia would enter production by early 2017 or by the end of 2016. It is expected to be priced in a range of Rs. 4-7 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
