The One World Futbol is specially designed to be indestructible for the tough conditions it is used in and the football never needs a pump and never goes flat! The special footballs are made from cross-linked closed cell foam that prevents the call from getting punctured and makes it tough enough for the harsh environment.

In India, Chevrolet announced the Indian chapter by kick-off of the donation at Gurgaon based Sankalp NGO. There will be almost 20,000 footballs that will be distributed around India and the initiative started on the birthday of Jawahar Lal Nehru also celebrated as Children day in the country. Football is the most popular sport around the world and the by providing such indestructible footballs to less fortunate kids of the country.

“Many of these children are growing up in less privileged circumstances where sometimes a game of football could lighten up their lives by teaching them the true meaning of team spirit and fair play,” said Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, GM India.

“The joy that comes from playing football can help lift their spirits and replace despair with hope. Chevrolet’s founding sponsorship of One World Futbol Project is intended to spark a worldwide movement to give children a pathway put of poverty and despair with the benefits that fitness, sport and teamwork can bring – something we call the ‘Power of Play’”, added Paddock.

The movement donated 91 footballs at Sankalp School in Gurgaon, the footballs were delivered in the MUV, Chevrolet Enjoy. The company is working with a social responsibility mission of “Driving a Better Tomorrow,” and the project will bring at least 20,000 footballs in India to the underprivileged. The company is working closely with communities in Talegaon, Bangalore and Halol while the rest of the balls will go the NGOs like Slum Soccer, who reaches out to the homeless children using football to improve their way of living.

The children of the school also prepared specially for the event and performed brilliantly in front of a huge crowd.

“It is our pleasure to work with Chevrolet India to support the donation and delivery of One Wor;d Futbols – first to Sankalp Scholl and then throughout the rest of India with Slum Soccer,” Said Arnold Ambiel, Chief Operating Officer of One World Futbol Project.

“The spirit of this joint collaboration will allow us to bring the power of play to more children throughout India than any of us could have done alone. And seeing the joy on the children’s faces on Children’s Day makes these efforts worthwhile.”
