Chevrolet's upcoming Beat-based compact sedan has been named as Beat Essentia, and it would be making its world premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo, claims an ET Auto report. The company's first sub 4-meter sedan would debut on February 3, 2016 alongside the Beat Cross concept and Spin MPV. In addition, the American automaker would also showcase its latest design language at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Talking about the Chevrolet Beat Essentia, the compact sedan is rumoured to go on sale from June 2017 in the country. The ET Auto report further reveals that work on Beat Essentia had begun around four years back in 2013. The sedan would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. Just so you know, Chevrolet India would also launch the Spin MPV around April 2017 in India. The Beat Essentia's exterior styling, predominantly, would preview the next-generation Beat hatch. The sedan would share several interior elements with the hatch. Being codenamed as MCM, it would be underpinning Beat's M300 architecture.
Mechanically, the sedan would come loaded with same set of petrol and diesel engines as the ongoing Beat hatch. The diesel variants would be powered by a 1.0L, 3-cylinder engine, while the petrol variants would get a 1.2L, 3-cylinder engine. The sedan would be manufactured locally, while it enters production by early 2017. Chevrolet Beat Essentia would lock horns with Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and the yet-to-be-launched Volkswagen Ameo. It is expected to be priced in a range of Rs. 5-8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
