While SAIC Motor is preparing to be the first Chinese automaker to launch its cars in India, using the MG Motors brand, China-made Baojun 530 SUV has been spotted in the country. With the spyshots of the car out on web, speculation is high about the possible launch of this model here. The SUV is built by Baojun, another SAIC subsidiary.
The Baojun is a company that has been built in collaboration between SAIC, General Motors and Wuling. Launched in 2017, the Baojun 530 is a stylish and tough looking SUV that could be an interesting product in India, if launched. Interestingly, it has spotted right after being showcased at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
Speaking about its styling, the SUV boasts a large and masculine hexagonal front grille with chrome trims, sleek headlamps, chrome trim at fog lamp enclosure, sleek LED taillights, sporty and large alloy wheels, floating roof theme. Interior of the car is equally stylish and premium thanks to its features and upmarket materials used on seats and upholstery.
The Baojun 530 compact SUV is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.8-litre petrol engine as well. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic gearbox. While its India launch is yet to be confirmed, we can expect the model to get a 1.5-litre motor for the country-spec version.
