Committed To Improve Environment, Maruti Share Its Message

In a recent report, it was mentioned that the new emission standards would be even more stringent and would also make the cars more economical. The new standards would bring India at par with the European Union which observes an enforcement that helps keep CO2 emissions in check. On the World Environment Day -June 6, 2015. The Indian car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited said that it is committed towards making the vehicles more environment friendly.

Present on the occasion was Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa (M D & CEO), he said “Maruti Suzuki has always been known for class leading fuel efficiency. In the last few years, the Company has worked systematically towards reducing vehicle emissions and achieved new benchmarks. The recent new models, product upgrades and even minor changes have been substantially more fuel efficient than the outgoing ones. With Auto Gear Shift technology the Company is able to offer the convenience of an automatic without the need to emit more.”

He also added, “Going forward, we will continue our focus on investing in new technologies and strengthen our capability to bring down emissions per vehicle by enhancing fuel efficiency of our cars.”

In the last five years, the company has been able to reduce the emission of its fleet of cars by 11.5%. Also, the new technologies (new-generation light weight platform, a new downsized direct-injection turbo petrol engine called BOOSTERJET and the SHVS mild hybrid system) might make their way into India which would help decrease the emission levels even further.

Presently, Ciaz, Swift Dzire and Celerio are company’s there most fuel efficient cars that are sold in India. Maruti Suzuki India was one of the first company to offer company fitted CNG kits in their cars. At present, the company offers six dual fuel cars – Alto, Alto K10, Eeco, Ertiga, Wagon R and Celerio. The cars are capable of running on petrol as well as CNG.

A lot of work is also been in done in the area of future sustainable technologies, Swift RE-EV is one such vehicle that is presently under development. The car basically an electric vehicle with an engine driven generator. The car would be able to deliver an effective average of 48Kmpl (approx) with the combined use of fuel and electric power.
