What if we ask you to name an automobile manufacturer from the Netherlands? Well, as confused you are, so were we when we heard the name of Donkervoort, a sports car manufacturer from the Dutchland. Donkervoort specializes in manufacturing ultra-light weight hand built sports cars.
Currently, Donkervoort is manufacturing only one model by the name of D8 GTO powered by an Audi engine and they have just revealed the limited-run D8 GTO “1000 Miglia Edition”, to celebrate the 2015 Mille Miglia, where the D8 GTO served as the official Support Car. To celebrate the achievement, the Dutch manufacturer will launch 25 units of the D8 GTO.
The D8 GTO "1000 Miglia Edition" will serve as a tourer and hence the engineer from the Donkervoort worked hard to tweak the otherwise sports car into a comfortable machine. To make the car more comfortable rather than being track-focused, Donkervoort has detuned the standard Audi engine from the original unit from the D8 GTO.
The engine is a 2.5-litre TFSI unit borrowed from Audi that produces 310 bhp. The car weighs around 760 kg and doesn't use carbon fibre that extensively as in the track-bred versions. Hence the touring model is a bit on the heavier side. Donkervoort has also adjusted some mechanics to give it a tourer touch.
The car comes with a higher driving position with adjustable comfort shock absorbers. The dashboard is more traditionally designed with conventional dials and phone & navigation access. Donkervoort has also used some special logos and badges on the body as well as the cabin to denote the exclusivity of this version.
The D8 GTO "1000 Miglia Edition" is priced at at €139,150 in the home country - the Netherlands.
