Daimler India Commercial Vehicle, the Indian arm of the Stuttgart-based Daimler AG has made an entry into the Bangladesh market today along with Daimler Group company Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation. The FUSO trucks, which are manufactured in India made its commercial debut in Bangladesh - making it the sixth strategic overseas market where Daimler India functions.
A company statement read, “Bangladesh is one of the key markets in Asia for FUSO trucks as the products are designed and developed to meet the growing demand for reliable and robust trucks.”
Daimler India manufactures the FUSO range of trucks at its plant in Oragadam near Chennai, in which the company has reportedly, infused an investment of Rs 4,400 crore for the facility that spans across 400 acre of land.
The FUSO trucks will be sold in Bangladesh via an exclusive and authorised distributor, Range Motors Ltd. and includes, five models across the medium-duty and medium heavy-duty segments. The company plant in Oragadam, Chennai has a capacity to produce 36,000 units.
Daimler India has been shipping FUSO trucks to markets like Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zambio, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. The automaker intends to gain entry into more markets in Asia and Africa in the coming years.
