Dani Pedrosa ends Marquez's winning streak

Snapshot: Pedrosa won the MotoGP at Brno where Valentino Rossi finished ahead of the leader Marc Marquez

Dani Pedrosa tasted success for the last time in Malaysia last year. He also became the second rider so far to win a race this season. In a race that was nothing less than brilliant, Pedrosa started 5th on the grid and went on to win the race as he did in 2012 too. It also meant that Marquez's dream of becoming the only MotoGP rider to win 11 opening premier class races in a season were shattered by his teammate. It all looked easy to almost everyone watching the race as Marquez also claimed the pole position on Saturday, but Pedrosa was in no mood to let it go without giving a sincere shot.

"I didn't plan the race in this way but fortunately Jorge... opened a gap immediately so I had to change my plan and then push to the limit. I kept my rhythm until the end but in the end I struggled with my rear grip and was not able to go out strong in the corners," said the 28-year-old Pedrosa.

Marquez slipped to sixth position after starting from the pole and the race leader was Jorge Lorenzo who was being followed closely by Dani. After Pedrosa overtook Lorenzo in the sixth lap and won over his fellow Spaniard by 0.410 seconds. Soon, Marquez returned to third spot but was overtaken by Rossi somewhere near the middle of the race. Rossi has won five premier class races here at Brno and his experience made sure that the young Spaniard finishes fourth; just off the podium. Rossi finished five seconds ahead of the reigning champion.

After this race, Marquez leads the charts with 263 points, 77 ahead of teammate Pedrosa and 90 ahead of Yamaha's Rossi.
