Datsun has officially confirmed that the all-new Datsun Cross will be offered with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) option, which is currently not available in the Datsun GO and Datsun GO Plus. The crossover is all set to be officially unveiled on 18th January 2018 in Indonesia.
The 2018 Datsun Cross is based on the Datsun GO Cross concept and borrows most of the design elements from the Datsun GO Plus MPV. It can also be termed as the crossover variant of the MPV, which gets a rugged design at exterior along with a new interior.
The Datsun Cross has already been spotted several times and the latest spy images partly revealed the interior of the car as well. The images reveal the new dashboard layout of the car which comprised of a new touch-operated centre console, new AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment system.
The spy shots and teaser images of the Datsun Cross have also revealed a lot about the exterior of the car. It gets a new honeycomb grille with chrome outline, silver skid plates and the newly designed projector headlights with LED DRL. All of this combinedly offer a trendy and aggressive front fascia to the model. The side profile of the car gets minimum body creases, ORVMs with turn indicators and the rear features a restyled LED tail lights.
Mechanically, the new Datsun Cross shares the same engine mechanism with that of the Datsun GO+. It is driven by an HR12DE 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 68 bhp at 5,000 revolutions per minute against a peak torque of 104 Nm at 4,000 revolutions per minute. The transmission options include a five-speed manual gearbox and a newly introduced CVT gearbox.
The entry-level all-new Datsun Cross is most likely to be priced between Rs. 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
