The upcoming Datsun Cross has been spied testing ahead of its official unveiling on 18th January 2018 in Indonesia. The spy shots of the car give a peek of the interior, revealing a new dashboard set up with touchscreen infotainment system.
The all-new Datsun Cross is based on the Datsun GO Cross concept displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The production version is called as ‘Cross’, which is built on the same platform as of the Datsun GO Plus. It is the crossover variant of the Datsun GO+ MPV with a rugged design at the exterior and a refreshed interior.
The 2018 Datsun Cross is a sub 4-metre car, which has received certain visual makeovers over the existing MPV, Datsun Go+. It has got a refreshing design to look stylish and attractive. The front fascia of the car looks trendy with projector headlights, LED DRLs, new chrome salted grille and a bumper. The side profile gets minimal changes, whereas the rear gets LED tail lights.
As per the spy shots, the interior of the car features a new dashboard with a touch-operated central console and rectangular air vents. The inclusion of touchscreen infotainment system with modern connectivity features was already expected. The reports of the Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ receiving a mid-cycle update with a new dashboard layout in the next year is also on the cards.
The Datsun Cross is expected to share the engine of the Datsun GO+. It will be powered by the same HR12DE 1.2-litre petrol engine that is good enough to develop a maximum power output of 68 bhp against a peak torque of 104 Nm. The engine comes paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. It claims to return a mileage of 13 kmpl in the city condition.
The new Datsun Cross is expected to be the most affordable entry-level seven-seater crossover, likely to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
